Bartlett Durand

CEO

Bartlett has a distinguished history in law, business and agriculture. Has started four separate businesses: an artisan cheese business for Otter Creek Organic Farm; a regional meat processor Black Earth Meats; a whole animal butcher shop The Conscious Carnivore; and a consulting business Local Choice Marketing focused on the Value Added Producer Grant and related federal grants.

Bartlett was one of the founders of Slow Money Wisconsin, a not-for-profit organization helping artisan food businesses find financing through bank loans, friends and family loans, angel investors (loans or equity) and other non-traditional financing methods. He was instrumental in developing new tools to assist in financing for farms and agriculture-related businesses.

Bartlett has become one of the leading experts in water quality trading practices, creating localized trading platforms for municipalities and wastewater treatment plants to partner with farmers and landowners for overall reduction in phosphorus and related excess nutrient and sediment runoff.
